About Us

The Fabric Connection was started in 1984 by Sheryl Goodman. She previously owned a fabric shop in Springfield, Va. Although she has a degree in psychology, she has worked in the design field most of her professional life. Nine years ago and motivated by the impending birth of her first child, Sheryl's daughter, Jennifer O'Neill, quit her job as a lawyer in Providence and joined the business. Although she pursued a career in law, Jennifer had always been involved in design and textiles and the change was a natural fit.

We sell first quality decorator fabrics on the bolt as well as have accounts with all the major design houses. We design, create and install custom window treatments as well as soft furnishings, bedding and table accessories. The Fabric Connection also sells small upholstered furniture and custom headboards. Our work can be seen all over Newport County and southeastern Massachusetts. We have decorated many of the mansions in Newport as well as the seaside "cottages" of Little Compton, Westport, and South Dartmouth. We ship everywhere.

And, we are Rhode Island's premier resource for decorators, architects and set designers. You can see our fabrics in such films are Dan in Real Life and Evening. We also service the extensive hospitality trade. Our customers include premier hotels such as Ocean Cliff, Castle Hill and the Chanler, to name a few.

Most of our experienced staff has been with us from the inception of the Fabric Connection. We have three decorators available for in home measurements and decorating consultations. We have our own work rooms and installers to create as well as install custom treatments.

We have been very fortunate to have such a loyal customer base. Our business has been built on and sustained by referrals and repeat business. We have had the same customers since the beginning of the Fabric Connection and now we decorate their children's homes!
